A little less searching.

Our Rx Picks are personal recommendations, not a ranking of what's trending. They sit alongside festival discoveries so you can follow a familiar favourite or find something unexpected.

Explore movies and television, or start with the festivals. Every selection gives the film room to speak for itself.

The Films Rx app keeps your watchlist and personal notes close. The website is your starting point: a way to explore the selection before choosing what to watch.

How our ratings work

The Rx dose reads at a glance: three bars for Masterpiece, two for Excellent, one for Rx Pick. Hearts mark a curator’s favourite. The tier still uses the higher of the two underlying ratings; cows are not displayed.

  • Masterpiece

Three filled bars mean Masterpiece: the highest rating value is 1 or more. Two hearts mark a curator’s favourite.

  • Excellent

Two filled bars mean Excellent: the highest rating value is 0. One heart marks a curator’s favourite.

  • Masterpiece

Higher values still mean Masterpiece. Hearts equal the heart rating plus one, capped at three.

  • Rx Pick

One filled bar means Rx Pick: a personal recommendation without a rating tier. A heart rating of −1 displays no hearts.

Festival titles without an Rx recommendation are Unrated: three empty bars, not a negative review.
